Leisure & Recreation Program
The Richmond Aging and Engaging Leisure and Recreation Program provides activities to support the cognitive, social, and physical health of our participants. We work with our participant advisory committee to tailor the activities to the interests and needs of the communities served. Activities will vary, but may include: crafts (such as making door wreaths and painting picture frames), games (such as family fued, card games, or team-building games), and physical activity (chair aerobics, corn hole, balance/strength to prevent falls)
What will I do as a leisure and rec volunteer?
Depending on the activity of the day, volunteers may assist participants with a craft project, lead a small group in a game, or simply converse with participants and provide social connection!
No experience required - we'll provide instructions for each week's activity.
Assistance with set up and clean up is always appreciated.
What is the time commitment for a leisure and rec volunteer?
Preference is given to volunteers who can attend weekly throughout the academic semester (our participants get attached to the volunteers!)
Who can be a leisure and rec volunteer?
Anyone 18 years old or older can volunteer for our leisure and rec program!
